Introducing Cane & Corn Disposable, Compostable Tablware

The name says it all.

Cane and Corn is revolutionary new disposable tableware that is completely biodegradable* and compostable. Unlike most of the products available in supermarkets today, our plates and bowls contains no paper and no petroleum. Our serviettes contain only 20% natural wood fibres for softness. This means our products are much easier on our planet’s natural resources than other disposable tableware. The sugarcane fibre, called bagasse, is a by product of making sugar. It is the fibre that is left after all of the juice is squeezed from the sugar cane to make table sugar. Before now it was burned releasing harmful gasses into the atmosphere. Now it is used to produce a top quality, disposable tableware called Cane and Corn. The tableware is strong, heat resistant and microwavable.

Our cutlery and cups are made from cornstarch. Corn is a sustainable crop, renewed every 12 months. Plastic breaks down into tiny toxic little bits that pollute soil and waterways. This process is called “photodegrade” and takes from 400 to 1000 years. Our Cane and Corn cutlery and cups take less than 5 months to biodegrade into environmentally safe natural fertilizer.
Cane and Corn is the intelligent choice for the planet.

For Restaurants and Cafes

Try Black Napkins, Plates & Cutlery on White Paper Tablecloths for presentation with a difference in coffee shops and restaurants.

Speaking of Chardonnay, Port and other great elbow benders, our Disposable Champagne Flutes, Goblets and Shot Glasses, are a great way to write your neighbours off!
To improve the display of salads in fish 'n' chip shops, tuckshops and school fetes, try the Ca-Cvp046,47,48 Plastic Containers. Coupled with sauce in our P100/P125 or BS2/4 Plastic Cups, it makes healthy eating appetising!

Speaking of takeaway lunches, try our Foam Containers range, with the Eps 01/02 Containers being great for hamburgers, the Eps 04 Containers for bread rolls and hot dogs, the Eps 05 being ideal for packaging meals with gravy or other sauces and the Eps 06 Containers perfect for such meals as roasts with vegetables or for your next hungi. All of our EPS Foam Containers come with an attached lid serving the purpose of both keeping the meals warm and streamlining the preparation process for your fete or function.

Having a hungi? Try our Heavy Duty Foil Wrap for wrapping up meat and vegetables OR Foil Containers to cook meal size portions. If you've used the foil wrap, when you dish it up use our EPS-06 or IP-17 Foam Containers for presentation and practicality for your guests. Other great ideas could be 425ml Plastic Cups for the beer drinkers, 8oz Foam Cups for softdrink, tea and coffee, Disposable Plates, Napkins and Disposable Cutlery.
Having a barbie? You won't have trouble juggling a beer AND a pair of tongs using our Foil Trays to hold the food! To keep it all hot, cover the food with our Lightweight Foil Wrap. Use our Foil Containers and place a piece of bread inside covering the bread with your freshly cooked onions el dente style. Goes great with Chardonnay as the onions are sweet! Our resident Chef Mike also suggests taking a hand of garlic out of our 32cm Netting Bag, placing the garlic on the barbie, leaving the skin on and serving the cooked garlic with your onions for a great side to your snags. Don't forget to squeeze some lemon that you've taken from our 32cm Netting Bags over your meat whilst its cooking - tastes great!

Suggestions for Fruit and Vegetable Shops

Greek yoghurt looks great in a 190ml Sundae Cup...or C10 or C8 Takeaway Containers for a work snack, school lunch or brekkie on the run. Try the C20 Containers or CM1000 Containers for take home sales - it looks great and tastes good too! One tip we've heard is if you store the flavouring separately, you can ensure that you maximise the yoghurts shelf life!

We have strong string handle flat bottom brown paper bags in small medium large and extra large. These bags promote the image of being ecologically harmless and then put a nice label on the bag for gifts or for a deli or organic foods. Great for bulk or just not using plastic - and you know those green bags are woven plastic as well.

Why not try packing your own soup packs? Ingredients could include onion, celery, parsley, carrot, swede & washed potato packed into a 1kg Strawberry Punnet. (For smaller quantities (approximately 250g) however, try a combination of garlic, jap pumpkin and potato displayed on 7x5 Deep Black Foam Tray.)

Honey ( no not you - though now I have your attention!) works well in the BS30 Plastic Container with the Raised BS Lid which holds approx 1kg or the BS20 Plastic Container which holds approx 650g. The two sizes can help you to get a good price point, and they stack easily too! This will make the container look fuller than the opposition and enhance the presentation and promote sales.

Also presenting honey in C30 Containers with a dome-lid allows you to fill the container rather than leaving space in the top for air.

Quiches, pre-cooked pastas, potato and pasta salads, and mornay meals displayed on your cool shelf with salads and potato salads nearby is a great way for mums or dads to grab an evening meal on the way home. To maximise the display, try options such as Foil Containers, 650 Plastic Takeaway Containers and Microwavable and Oven Proof Containers.

To improve the presentation of Cos lettuce, try placing the produce in 225x325 Polypropylene (like cellophane) bags.

For great presentation of flat beans, try our Black Foam trays 6x8 deep.
Maximise the appeal of salads by presenting them in a Domed Lid Show Bowl 32DL or 24DL or 20DL. This not only looks great but suggests freshness too!
What about using the 1kg Strawberry Punnet to pack mushrooms! They look fresh and appealing and are reported to sell well.

32cm, 43cm and 50cm Netting bags are perfect for packaging onions, avocados and garlic.

Try our 1kg Strawberry Punnets for packaging scrubbed potatoes. Not only will customers thank you for the convenience, but the produce will be protected from damage by long fingernails. The punnet will fit approximately 1 kg and is a good price point between a few in a bag and the 3 kg bagged and the customer can keep their hands clean

Plastic clear trays 7x5 (code raptis 275), as against foam trays, allow customers to inspect the fruit or vegies and see the quality of your stock. Great for sno pea, squash, tomatoes. Think about 750g of seedless grapes 1/2 Thompson and 1/2 Flame, a smart mix of red and green to enhance your presentation.

Good quality fruit priced to your particular customer sells well. However, for the lesser quality produce, try our C30 Round Plastic Containers and create colourful fruit salads for summer or to treat the winters colds and flu whilst maximising your GP margin.

Dates stuffed with blue cheese look great and sell well, especially when presented on a 5x5 Foam Tray.

One effective way to prevent wastage and improve presentation of seedless grapes is through our Grape Bags. Try them out to see the improvement for yourself.

Banana's are sometimes loose and can be packed on a 8 x 7 deep black foam tray to reduce damage.
